Who we are
sskin.care is run by a small group of people who are genuinely obsessed with skincare. We spend our free time reading research papers, comparing ingredient lists, and testing products on ourselves. We're not a medical institution, a pharmacy, or a brand. We're skincare nerds who got tired of bad information on the internet and decided to compile better information in one place.
What we do
We collect, organise, and present skincare information from publicly available sources. We read published dermatological research. We pull product data from brand websites. We compare formulations, track prices, and write about what we find. When we have opinions, we label them as opinions. When we cite research, we link to the source.
We always recommend consulting a dermatologist for anything clinical. We can help you understand ingredients and build a routine. We cannot diagnose skin conditions, prescribe medication, or replace professional medical advice.
Where our information comes from
- Published research. We cite studies from journals like JAAD, British Journal of Dermatology, Indian Journal of Dermatology, and others available through PubMed/NIH. Specific citations appear at the bottom of each article.
- Brand websites. Product names, prices, images, and availability come directly from each brand's own e-commerce store. We use public Shopify API endpoints where available. We don't rely on third-party marketplaces.
- Dermatologist input. We consult dermatologists to verify clinical claims. Their input confirms factual accuracy. It doesn't mean they endorse specific products or our editorial opinions.
- Our own experience. Where we've personally tested products, we say so with specific details (duration, skin type, what we observed). Where we haven't, we rely on published data and ingredient analysis.
What we don't do
- We don't accept payment from brands to feature or review products.
- We don't accept free products in exchange for coverage. We buy everything at retail.
- We don't write sponsored content. Every article is our own.
- We don't diagnose or prescribe. If something needs a doctor, we'll tell you to see a doctor.
Our ratings and opinions
Brand ratings, product verdicts, and "best of" picks are our editorial opinions. They reflect what we think based on formulation quality, ingredient transparency, value for money, and available research. Reasonable people can disagree with our takes. That's fine. We're sharing our perspective, not issuing medical advice.
Outbound links
When we link to a brand's website, the link includes UTM parameters so we can see which content generates interest. This doesn't affect your price or install cookies. As of April 2026, we have no active affiliate agreements. If that changes, we'll disclose it on every affected page.
Product images
Product images come from brand CDNs (Shopify's content delivery network). These are the same images on the brand's own site. We don't alter them. For brands without available images, we use a placeholder showing the brand initial and product category.
Always consult a dermatologist
We say this throughout the site and we'll say it again here. For any persistent skin concern, unusual symptoms, prescription medications, or conditions like cystic acne, PCOS, rosacea, or melasma, see a qualified dermatologist. We're good at explaining skincare. We're not qualified to treat medical conditions.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it. No hiding, no silent edits on important claims. If you spot an error, tell us. Accuracy is the only thing that makes this site worth reading.
